About

Wells Food Festival

Wells Food Festival is a Community Interest Company, set up in 2012 to celebrate and promote the best of Somerset’s artisan food and drink.

The annual food festival is now firmly established in Wells, with around 15,000 visitors coming to browse almost 200 stalls showcasing the high-quality work of our local producers.

Stalls are located in the medieval Market Place, the Town Hall, through the Bishop’s Eye, along the moat and in the recreation ground.

The festival also hosts wine tastings and activities for children, including cookery workshops and a children’s trail.

Visitors are admitted free and we aim to keep stallholders’ fees to a minimum. Our main income comes from local sponsors, whose generous support funds the event.

By attracting such a large audience, we are proud to play our part in boosting stallholders’ businesses, as well as the local economy and the tourism on which the area depends.

Plus we hope to give our visitors a fulfilling day, packed with flavour, fun and learning.

A small team of volunteers organise the event, booking and locating stallholders, marquees, electrics and safety equipment, recruiting stewards and raising sponsorship, as well as arranging insurance and rubbish disposal.
