Kate Lynch: FARM – Paintings, drawings and Somerset voices
Kate Lynch is an artist and social historian who has spent nearly 20 years documenting farming and crafts in Somerset, including willow growers and basket makers, peat diggers, shepherds, beekeepers, farmers, cheese makers, thatchers and cider makers.
Her fourth book is newly published: FARM – Paintings, drawings and Somerset voices, in which more than 20 farmers around the Somerset Levels share their history, accompanied by Kate’s atmospheric paintings and drawings of them at work today. The farmers tell stories from the Second World War, they remember hand-milking and working horses, and they also bring us up to date with life today.
Kate will be signing her book and talking about her projects.
Kate’s FARM paintings and drawings are on exhibition at the Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury. Visit Kate’s website to see more about her projects, books and paintings.
