Bath Soft Cheese
The Padfield family have been happily milking a herd of cows at Park Farm in Kelston for four generations. Edward Ernest Padfield took on the 240 acres of Park Farm in August 1914. Cheddar cheese was made by his wife in the building that adjoined the farmhouse and the cows were milked by hand in the building across the yard.
In 1990, when Graham Padfield decided to start making cheese again, he was able to do so in the very same buildings in which his grandmother had made her Cheddar nearly 80 years before. Times change and in 2015, production moved into a new cheese dairy adjacent to the cattle dairy and milking parlour. Hugh, Graham’s son, works alongside his father and together they are creating award-winning organic cheeses, which are now made less than 50 yards away from where the cows are milked!
The family continue to employ a traditional approach to raising and grazing the small herd of 160 mainly Holstein Friesian cows and also to their cheese making. The three signature cheeses are made throughout the week by hand, using traditional methods and are supplied to farmers’ markets, shops, restaurants and delis both locally and further afield. All three cheeses (Bath Soft, Wyfe of Bath and Bath Blue) are award winning, and our Bath Blue was crowned over all champion at the World Cheese Awards a couple of years ago.

As seen on BBC2’s Harvest Episode 3 and Terry & Mason’s Great British Food Trip, Episode 8.

Located just south of the genteel city of Bath, the chaps have pooled their collective skills to develop distinguished recipes to fill every bottle, cask and keg.

You can purchase our organic yoghurts and organic beef to take home at Wells Food Festival. After the festival you can purchase directly from our website for doorstep delivery or to collect from markets we attend in Somerset – we do not have a farm shop nor sell direct from the farm itself.
Using as much home grown and the finest locally sourced produce as available. In fact (wherever possible), I grow it, pick it, make it & sell it; there are no franchises here, just me. Every one of my preserves is lovingly produced the traditional way, hand cooked small batches in a Maslin pan; ensuring that the finished item is of the highest quality, full of flavour and lots of love. Using recipes handed down the generations as well as introducing some new ones for this generation too. Preserving my heritage & providing some modern twists for you to enjoy alongside the traditional ones, but always delicious flavours. Established in 2013, I am registered with local Trading Standards, Environmental Health Inspected and awarded the highest Food Hygiene Rating of 5 by the Food Standards Authority. I do hope I will get to meet you soon & that you will taste for yourselves the passion I put into my preserves.

Cup of Tea
After more than 15 years selling tea and accessories online and supplying tea to hotels and restaurants throughout the UK, the tea experts at local company Cup of Tea have launched a range of hand-picked, traditionally produced teas and infusions. The High Tea Co selection comprises five popular varieties of teas packed in beautiful reusable tubes and a further four varieties in stand-up pouches.
Tea should be all about taste and quality. Yes, tea is seen as a comforting drink and a social icebreaker but there is no reason why it shouldn’t taste wonderful at the same time. Like many foods and drinks, tea is produced in different ways with only around 25% of all production worldwide being harvested and produced in the traditional way; we refer to this method as orthodox production. It relies on the skills and traditions residing in the tea gardens to expertly produce beautiful teas which deliver fine tastes and a rather better tasting cup of tea. But growing and production is only part of the story. The best tea leaves and infusions need a little more time to brew and deliver their delicious flavours.
Here at Ebb Tides, we hand harvest a combination of seaweeds from the beautiful Devon coast and turn them into versatile products that you can use in your everyday cooking. We think seaweeds are pretty amazing. Eaten by coastal people since ancient times and part of the daily diet in Asia for centuries – for good reason. Seaweeds are wholesome, delicious and a great alternative to salt.

To this day, Gould’s cheddar remains a family concern and is traditionally handmade on the farm using milk from their own Friesian dairy herd. The dairy is adjacent to the thatched farmhouse where Fred Gould runs the farm and his sister Jean the cheese making. Gould’s cheddar is made from their own unique recipe which has been handed down over the generations and is matured at set temperature conditions for up to two and a half years to give it its unique flavour. Alongside the traditional cheddar, flavoured cheddars are proving popular with such flavours as hot chilli and chive, cracked black pepper and spring onion.

Our children take a practical interest in the farm. Tom, who has a degree in Agriculture from Reading, and Danj, our son-in-law, work full time on the farm. Our daughters, Naomi, Bex, Jess, Hannah & Frances, together with our daughter-in-law Jennifer, also help out from time to time on the farm in the shop and at Farmers Markets. Having a mixed stock farm we have become experts in animal husbandry, welfare being our top priority. Quality is maintained by using wholesome animal feed including home grown wheat, maize/grass silage and meadow hay – all used during the winter months. The cattle graze in the summer with special formulated rations for finishing, without the use of growth promoters. The same policy is used for all other livestock. We are responsible traditional farmers, using fertilisers and herbicides only according to need. Our animals are treated when necessary. We enjoy the services of expert agronomists, veterinarians, and feed specialists. Our farm is independently inspected.
Following the seasons, surplus produce from our two orchards, fruit & veg gardens is turned into vibrant traditional & contemporary preserves, sauces, fruit juices, fruit & cider vinegars. We also produce honey and make marmalade. Lovingly prepared by hand we like to experiment with different preserving techniques to create the best tasting products. We garden sustainably. A new hedge has been planted with 18 carefully chosen species to provide food & cover for wildlife and pollinating insects, as well as flowers & fruits for hedgerow preserves.

Award-winning 100% pure Canadian maple syrup
Pure Maple is a British Canadian family business that was saddened by the poor quality of maple syrup found in the UK. Working with a cooperative of experienced maple syrup producers in South East Quebec, Canada, Pure Maple is created using the traditional, manual ‘tapping’ process which can only take place during the six-week harvesting season. 100% pure with nothing added or taken away.
Pure Maple syrup has three Great Taste Award-Winning grades: Golden Delicate, Amber Rich and Dark Robust. Grading is done using a combination of the flavour and translucence of the syrup, the lighter maple syrup grades are produced earlier in the harvesting season when the weather is colder.
When Gordon and Betty passed away, the company was passed on to their daughter Jan and her family, who continue to expand the range of great tasting ciders, staying true to our Somerset roots and without compromising on traditional methods. We continue to harvest apples from local orchards in Somerset, pressing the apples on the farm using the original presses and the rack and cloth method. The juice is then matured in our aged oak vats, before being bottled and packaged on the farm. We would like to invite you to try our range of local, award winning ciders, that have been lovingly developed by our family over the years.

Biltong is an extremely tasty snack, which is high in protein and low in fat. The art of making biltong originated in South Africa, which is where we learned our skills.

We do 2 flavours, traditional and chilli. We sell our Biltong either in slabs or we slice them freshly on the day, for the customer.

Tim began trading in January 2013. He started from scratch with nothing but home grown chillies and some very good family marmalade recipes. Inspired by a love of spicy food which he gained visiting his relatives in California many years ago, and a desire to develop a range of products to fill a niche – ‘there were loads of different vinegar based hot sauces around, many of which used extracts and chemical preservatives rather than fresh ingredients. I wanted to develop a range that would deliver both fresh fruit flavour and fresh chilli heat’. He uses local suppliers to source his ingredients, buying UK grown produce when available – from chillies to cheddar strawberries. All Timmy’s Chillies products are gluten free and vegan friendly.
