Who we are
Wells Food Festival is a Community Interest Company, a type of limited company set up for the benefit of the local community.
The Festival’s ethos is to:
Promote the finest local artisan food and drink producers and their products.
Encourage families to include more fresh food in their cooking, to learn more about the land and how their food is produced, and to understand the challenges faced by small-holder producers.
The Festival brings many benefits to the City of Wells and the local economy by:
Promoting the area’s rich and diverse artisan food and drink sector – over 150 individual traders showcased their products last year and many reported takings for the day higher than at any other West Country festival.
Enhancing the image of the City as a great tourist destination.
Attracting people of all ages and social groups – over 12,000 people came to last year’s event and 94% of those told researchers that they would come again.
The Festival has built relationships with a wide range of partners, including:
Local community groups
Wells Food Festival is run entirely by volunteers, who receive no remuneration or benefits.
Visitors are admitted free and it is our intention to keep fees for stall-holders to a minimum. Our main source of income comes from local sponsors, whose generous support funds the event.
